Chiswick in Film Festival (CIFF) champions the cinematic connections of our West London community with a diverse programme, held across an exclusive Q&A weekend. CIFF celebrates films shot in Chiswick or made by Chiswick residents.


On Saturday, the 28th of March, CIFF presents Chuck Chuck Baby followed by a Q&A including local producer Susan Simnett, part of the team behind Chuck Chuck Baby (BAFTA Wales Breakthrough Award and Best Feature Film winner) along with producer Anne Beresford and director Janis Pugh.

A film of love, loss and music set amongst the falling feathers of a chicken factory.


Present day, industrial north Wales. Helen spends her nights packing chickens and her days caring for dying mother-figure Gwen. Helen’s mundane world is turned upside down by the return of Joanne, a crush from her schooldays. The feeling is mutual, and as they fall in love, Helen’s zest for life returns – but Joanne feels the walls close in as she faces something darker from her past.

Q&A Guests:

Susan’s most recent executive producing credit was on the upcoming ‘Everybody Digs Bill Evans’ which won the Silver Bear for Best Director at the Berlinale. She was also the executive producer for Sundance Jury Prize winner ‘Everybody To Kenmure Street’ and 4’-time BIFA nominated ‘Brides.’

Jacquie Lawrence

Host Jacquie Lawrence is a writer/director/producer of broadcast drama and documentaries. As Commissioning Editor at Channel 4 she was responsible for a raft of programming, included ‘Coming Out Night’ starring Graham Norton and Ellen DeGeneres. Her other Channel 4 highlights include the Sundance Award-winning ‘Paragraph 175’ and the Emmy Award-winning ‘Celluloid Closet’. She also co-commissioned a television drama, ‘The Investigator’, which starred Helen Baxendale and Rikki Beadle-Blair's comedy-drama series ‘Metrosexuality’. As Commissioning Editor for Documentaries at Sky One, she won the channel’s first factual BAFTA for ‘Ross Kemp on Gangs’. As writer she wrote the drama series ‘Different for Girls’ and as a director her recent feature-length documentaries, ‘Gateways Grind’ and ‘Life of Riley’, have screened on BBC4 and Channel 5 respectively.
