New play The Quietening explores the long-term impact of conversion practices through an unlikely queer romance.

Jacob is a librarian who has spent years rebuilding his life after being subjected to conversion therapy as a teenager. When his estranged mother dies, he unexpectedly finds himself drawn into a relationship with Ethan.

The Quietening examines a subject rarely explored on stage: not only conversion therapy itself, but its aftermath, and whether healing is still possible.

With conversion practices still legal in England, The Quietening offers a timely and deeply personal exploration of their lasting effects.

The Quietening plays at The Cockpit on the 15th and 16th August at 7pm.
