An Evening of Magic, Connection and Fundraising with Pride Wide

On Thursday 22 October, West London Queer Project (WLQP) attended a rather magical evening hosted by Pride Wide, bringing together supporters of the LGBTQ+ community for an evening of entertainment, storytelling and fundraising.

Held at M&G’s offices on Fenchurch Avenue in the City of London, the event featured psychic entertainer Andy Morgan, who treated guests to a fascinating combination of magic, tarot card readings and storytelling. It was certainly something a little different and a fun way to bring people together in support of an important cause.

But beyond the magic, the evening was also an opportunity to learn more about Pride Wide, its work and its ambitions for the LGBTQ+ community.

Who is Pride Wide?

Pride Wide is a UK-registered charity and international nonprofit movement working towards a world where all LGBTQ+ people can live freely, equally and openly, regardless of where they live.

At the heart of its work is a belief in the power of storytelling to change attitudes, challenge prejudice and create a more inclusive society.

Through journalism, media campaigns, research, social media and personal stories, Pride Wide works to challenge misinformation and negative narratives about LGBTQ+ people, while amplifying voices and experiences that too often go unheard.

At a time when LGBTQ+ rights and identities are increasingly the subject of political debate and negative media coverage, this work is particularly important.

Pride Wide believes that by changing the conversation and sharing authentic stories, we can help change perceptions, build understanding and ultimately create a better future for LGBTQ+ people everywhere.

Coming Together for a Good Cause

The evening also introduced guests to Pride Wide Friends, a support and fundraising network inviting individuals to become Founding Friends and help support the organisation’s future work.

For us at WLQP, it was a lovely opportunity to connect with others who share our commitment to LGBTQ+ equality, inclusion and visibility.

While our work at WLQP focuses primarily on bringing people together through sport, social activities, culture and wellbeing across West London, we recognise the importance of organisations like Pride Wide, whose work reaches beyond local communities to influence wider conversations and attitudes.

Both organisations share a belief that visibility, connection and representation matter, and that creating positive change requires people and organisations to work together.

A big thank you to Pride Wide, M&G and Andy Morgan for an enjoyable and rather unusual evening of entertainment, networking and fundraising.
