West London Queer Project (WLQP) is excited to announce our inaugural fundraising event, marking a major milestone in our efforts to support and empower the LGBTQ+ community.
The event will take place on Thursday 24 October at The Broadcaster in White City, and promises to be a night of community celebration, unity, and entertainment.
The evening, sponsored by DIVA, will feature inspiring keynote speakers, including LGBTQ+ Human Rights Defender, Peter Tatchell, and best selling author, screenwriter and actress, Juno Dawson, a comedy/drag show, and a DJ to set the tone for an unforgettable night. Guests will be greeted with a complimentary drink and delicious canapés upon arrival.
WLQP was founded with the mission to connect, support, and give voice to the Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual, Transgender, Queer, and other sexual and gender-identifying (LGBTQ+) individuals in West London. Since our inception, just four years ago, we have hosted over 600 inclusive events, creating a safe, welcoming, and supportive space for the LGBTQ+ community. 80% have been free to attend while others were subsidised through funding from organisations such as The National Lottery, Sport England, and several local councils.
Looking Ahead: WLQP’s Vision and Strategy
WLQP has outlined a comprehensive five-year strategy that focuses on expanding our services into neighbouring boroughs, including Richmond, Hillingdon, Harrow, and Kensington & Chelsea. We also plan to hire two key roles - a Funding & Partnerships Manager and a Community Engagement Officer - to strengthen our infrastructure and ensure continued impact.
Our strategy is centred on four key pillars:
Let’s Talk – Addressing mental health, wellness, and sexual health.
Let’s Get Physical – Promoting physical health and sporting activities.
Let’s Make a Difference – Advocacy, education, and raising awareness.
Let’s Have Some Fun – Hosting social and networking events to build community.
The Importance of Community Support
As a non-profit community interest company, WLQP relies on external funding to continue its work. In order to secure long-term financial stability, WLQP aims to raise £40,000 by the end of 2024. This inaugural fundraiser aims to collect £20,000, with the remainder to be raised through a crowdfunding campaign (see the link below).
The funds raised will allow WLQP to continue our mission of advocacy, community-building, and providing essential services to the LGBTQ+ population in West London. We kindly invite our supporters to contribute, whether through donations or by attending the event, to help ensure our growth and success for years to come.
Quote From Founder
“We’re incredibly excited to be hosting WLQP’s first-ever fundraiser, which represents a major step forward for our organisation and the community we serve. Over the past four years, we’ve built a space where LGBTQ+ individuals can come together, feel supported, and be heard.” said Aubrey Crawley, founder of the West London Queer Project. “This event is about more than just raising £40k, it’s about securing the future of our work, so we can continue to offer life-changing services, create safe spaces, and advocate for real, meaningful change in West London. The support from this event will allow us to expand our impact, reach new boroughs, and grow our initiatives in mental health, physical well-being, and advocacy. Every donation, no matter how small, helps us build a stronger, more inclusive future for everyone.”
Join us on Thursday 24 October, and together, let's continue to make a difference.
